A Canon 5D Mark II has become the first video-capable DSLR to film a whole episode of a US primetime series. Greg Yaitanes, director of FOX broadcasting company's medical drama series 'House', used the camera , a selection of of Canon's prime lenses, the 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses to shoot the season finale. Speaking via Twitter, he said that this was to achieve a shallow depth of field and a 'richer look'. He also said he 'feels it’s the future'.

wow, that's impressive. i was considering getting a canon hv20 or canon xl2, but the capabilities of this camera for video just makes this decision all the more difficult.
also, didn't know they were already working on the season finale - that's over a month away.

On a similar subject- who's seen CSI Miami? The colours look amazing, more deep and and vivid than any other tv programme, without looking overly-saturated. Would that be from using a DSLR, or just some post-processing trickery?
