So I am interested in learning more about furniture design. I have versed myself in CAD software, but I realize that is really nothing if I don't know the fundamentals. Can anyone recommend and good books that talk about this?

Good books that talk about furniture design? That's quite vague. Are you interested in materials, construction, aesthetics, or digital prototyping?

look into ergonomics and human anatomy...
a chair is worth nothing if it looks good but hurts to sit in it... (or turns your bum numb)

my school had a class called materials and technique as one of the beginning courses for that program. It was pretty much shop. CAD and 3D programs are ok, but I would try to get versed in materials and tools before designing on the computer.

i work for a furniture fabricator and theres no cad involved at all, they work out a pattern by hand much like a seamstress does with clothes
