I was asked to export as an avi and when I do this through flash and then replay the avi it looks choppy. How do I properly export an avi from flash?
- Frosty_spl0
you can't. You need an SWF to MOV (or whatever) converter.
- whatthefunk0
so doing the export movie and choosing an avi is not the correct way to do this? They asked for an uncompressed avi file - I'm confused
- M_C_P0
you're trying to play an uncompressed avi, a movie with a high data rate. perhaps your hard drive has not the speed to maintain that high of a data rate, hence the dropped frames(choppiness)
- ummm, good call - I'm just gonna send it and see what they say. Thanks guyswhatthefunk

i would ask th catalyst or whoever is going to output it

you could export as an image sequence, re-import into AE or Premiere and then export a QuickTime or other video file. My experience with exporting video straight outta Flash has never been great.,

i think last time i used apple intermediate
codec

if you after effects, try loading your avi in there and do a RAM preview. granted, it may play back for a few seconds, but it will playback at native speed and show you if your animation is rendered to file properly.

Yeah I've had a lot of issues exporting videos from Flash... it's like it can't render it quickly enough. Another option is set the video to play at a super low frame rate (like 1 fps) and then speed it up to the correct fps in After Effects. It worked for me.

thanks everyone - I just learned that I should make my flash with 30fps to avoid choppiness in the video (does that sound correct?). Does anyone know of a freeware video conversion software I could use? I don't have AE so my only option is either flash or another software.

I'm doing a bunch of these for LA Live/Dodger Stadium. I can't imagine trying to do them in Flash. Download the AE demo. It'll make it a lot easier. And you should definitely not be working at 15fps unless the company you're delivering to specified that as the frame rate. Usually it's 29.97.

i've always wondered how much would you charge for something like this?
