The Register The Inquirer isn't.

there's a sucker born every minute

Of course, because the hours of design, prototyping, software development, user interface refinement, the software developer kit, and its integration with iTunes are worth absolutely nothing. And, who the fuck does Steve Jobs think he is trying to turn a profit?
- calculator0
what a lame article. was it written by a fucking teenager?
- PIZZA0
What a fucking moronic article, they're a hardware company who's main selling point is the software and the design. So they have to make a decent profit on the hardware or they wouldn't be in business.
I'd like to see a similar article for the Joojoo tablet (thejoojoo.com) which clearly hasn't had barely any time spent on its interface/user experience/development kit/case and yet is the same price as the iPad
- come on, the joo joo was produced by a tiny company - we should give them a break imo.lukus_W
- A break? hahahahamonospaced

"It appears that Apple has a practice of buying cheap components but spending large on "look and feel" bits and then charging users double for it."
Businesses 'aren't' out to not make profit?

This is retarded. It's like saying a painting is worth the cost of canvas and paint.

I clicked on that article, and got a Microsoft commercial first, then the damned thing just read like 'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAA' to me after that.

I wonder how much other gizmos differ from the price of their components.
- pressplay0
I am actually surprised, that materials alone make half of the price... compare that to a converse chuck sneaker made somewhere in indonesia or so and then sold for 60 euros here in europe... there you have a business-model!

- Same hereutopian
- Yeah, me too... What was that website again where they compare braun and apple products?pressplay
- Considering that Rams and Braun didn't make computers, it's safe to say Apple was simply inspired by product designmonospaced

"Considering that Rams and Braun didn't make computers, it's safe to say Apple was simply inspired by product design"
Strongly inspired. Please especially note the colors used.
- for monspaced. Like they were "inspired" by the Xerox PARC gui?flashbender
- all product designers are inspired by product designscarabin
- my iphone calc doesnt quite look like that one. and that dude is on a jailbreak cingular plan...Douglas
- lol @ flashbender's pathetic attempt to prove me wrong. That's not even a real iPhone screenshot or calculator.monospaced
- what do you mean it's not real? That's the old calculator app, they changed it.Ranger
- Wish it still looked like the braun, rip or not. My Dad's got one of the Braun ones, he won't give it up though.Ranger

dude, you can't run a business without a 100% markup. marketing 101.
and what's with the weird teen-bashing tangent at the end?
- dbloc0
everything is doubled when it goes out on the market.
for example, do you really think it costs $15 to make and screen a t-shirt?

Didn't apple's markup for the first ipod was over 400%???
was the guy that wrote the article born a few minutes ago? I don't get it.. is this suppose to be a joke?
- sequoia0
that article was beyond stupid
- Meeklo0
