Does anyone know if there is any software out there that can add the iphone-like smart text functionality to OS X? I am thinking this would be helpful when composing emails or writing in google docs.
If you dont know what I mean by "smart text" read here:

Not really what I think you're looking for, but there's TextExpander: http://www.smileonmymac.com/Text…

yeah i've narrowed it down to a couple apps that simply function as advanced "hot keys" but that is lame. Helpful for disabled people i guess. But I'm looking for something more like "predictive typing". The iPad is going to have it...why can't I have in os x!!

TextEdit seems to do this, maybe there is a hack to apply it to all text?

TextExpander can come close to this... It can be set to expand as soon as you type a shortcut, and to there's built-in Autocorrect and Symbols libraries.

The further down this road we go, the dumber, we as a species will get.

@honest. Not if you're a programmer. Less time spent on typing commands = more time spent 'doing'
