when you install chrome on win it is installed in (heres the path):
C:\Documents and Settings\xx\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Applicationthis is a directory hidden by default, 99,9% of software is installed in the program files folders on win. why they did that?
weighty: chrome weights 70mb on my pc , compared to FF 24mb.
where can i shut off the download updates in chrome ?
anyway it looks good and works good.

that's not the location of Chrome, that's the location of your profile and I guess that's where it stores its cache, saved passwords, settings, etc.

you are right, I did some googling and the reason for that (it seems) is to allow non-admin accounts to install it, typically corporate environments where you have a basic user account.

I read that there's a service called GoogleUpdate that's in charge of that, you can disable auto start of that service on windows logon so it doesn't run

always makes me laugh when windows users cry about 50-100 meg apps. OH NO AN APPLICATION IS ALMOST AS BIG AS A 25 MINUTE TV SHOW VIDEO ITS THE END OF THE FUCKING WORLD.
Must all be on 50 gig hard drives

^ thats not the point, the point is when an appli is well codes its relative weigth is minimum, im not talking about windows or whatever OS. RETARD
- OS related weight can have an impact too but it's not main, anyway your comment has won the moronish award********
- the app itself may be small, the libraries it depends on can be huge....vaxorcist
- yep, btw i had like 3 processes chrome.exe running, looks like it creates a process per tab!********
