Anyone run their own setup? If so, what do you use? Pros cons?
I'm thinking of buying something like this so that I can set it up as web server.

Kind of topic, but I may buy two one is a web server, the other a media server.

With the low price of hosting today, I see no reason to worry about hardware, software, security and bandwidth myself. Plus any throttling, account restrictions or anything else may ISP may want to throw in.
Is it a very specific use/setup and low traffic?

server admin is a role in itself. overall it's cheaper to just use a web host, but then again, i have no idea what you're using this for so, sure, why not

if it's low traffic on a local network, any old pc will work. i use a couple of old G4s with GUI-less ubuntu on them. pretty speedy and they need zero maintenance once they're set up, one was up for nearly a year without a reboot.
