Working on this page:
http://sisuhome.com/new/cycle4/I'm using a tooltip for the nav (white square in upper left corner) that is being triggered onmouseover.
Is there anyway to trigger the nav to show when the page loads too? I'd like it to show for a few secs and then hide itself.

use $(window).load(function(){
//call the stuff
});

$(document).ready(function(){
$("#nav").fadein(150);
});

$(document).ready - when DOM is ready
$(windows).load - when everything is loadedif jQuery 1.4 is used, then can try with new delay() function

hmmm, tried both of these with no luck.
the white box is "#nav_trigger". Mousing over "#nav_trigger" shows "#nav".
It seems like i'd want to be targeting "#nav_trigger" no?

<script type="text/javascript">
$(window).load(function(){
$("#nav_trigger").fadein(150);
});
</script>?

#nav_trigger doesn't contain the nav; you should use #nav

Thanks for your help 303. I don't know much of anything when it comes to JS as you can probably tell. I'm using this as-is and it's not working:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(window).load(function(){
$("#nav").fadein(150);
});
</script>Also, what about positioning? Is this the reason why I'm not seeing anything happen when the window loads?

Scrapping the idea of the nav timing out after a specified time... instead, it would stay up until the user either mouseson (and off) or a user scrolls the page using the scrollbar. That's another issue though.
How can I get the nav to show up on window load or document ready?
Someone can get help get these functions working, there's something in it for you.
Plz.
- Edit: If you can help me to get these functions working, there's something in it for you.sisu

I've put together what I thought would work...
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#nav").focus();
events: {
def: "focus mouseover,blur mouseout"
}
});
});
</script>...but it didn't.
Anyone have any insight on how to make my ToolTip show on document ready, then fade out if a user scrolls the scrollbar or chooses a nav item?
- sisu0
The ToolTip is shown by mouseover on the "+" icon. Want it shown on document ready too.

bah, munged by the qbn
$('#nav_trigger').trigger(' mouseover ');
- acescence0
for the other part of your question, you can attach a function to $(document).scroll() that fades nav, then unbinds that event
- sisu0
Thanks acescence. I'll try this out tonight. Cheers.
