e-pill, with all the 3d animation you're doing you'll prolly wanna get to using after effects to help trick out your renders thru compositing.

hopefully, CS5 will deliver node-based compositing for after effects.

CS5??? Adobe should get CS3 to work properly.

    • wouldn't that defeat the point of releasing a new version?mydo

      not a flash user then?kingsteven3/8
amen, king -- flash cs4 is the worst evernuggler4/8
Flash CS4 sucks, the rest are pretty goodukit5/8
haven't you found the sticky panels a little annoying?
      maikel6/8
The sticky panels are annoying but can be fixed in preferences. Flash needs some help. That interface breaks into pieces whenever you import anything.CyBrain7/8
There are a few minor set backs here and there, but nothing there isnt a work around for, I have to say I am happy with CS4, but I am looking forward to using the Content-Aware function.LancePilgrim8/8

In a statement released today Adobe announced that the company will break with its traditional approach by introducing no new features with CS5.

"We think what our customers want is honesty," a spokesman explained. "Think back over the past decade of releases. Can you name a single useful feature that was introduced in CS4, 3, or 2? I mean, cmon, the bones tool? Not even I know what that does."

"We expect this approach to produce significant cost savings," he added.

At the same time, Adobe outlined what WILL be in the new release. "It will have the number 5," the spokesman said. "Instead of CS4, you'll be able to say you have CS5. We've also been working over the past 9 months to redesign the color of the Creative Suite desktop icons."

He added that the loading graphic for Photoshop CS5 will be "breathtaking."

Hopefully it'll have more compelling features than that 3D shit in Photoshop. If you need 3D learn a fucking 3D program there is a shit load of them to choose from, its not that hard.

Also hopefully they fixed Fireworks this time

The last feature I cared about was aligning points in illustrator. That was either CS2 or 3?

    • you can do that in CS4monospaced1/2
Yeah I run CS3 and it has it, but I wasn't sure when the feature was introduced.bjm2/2

preview of fonts in illustrator? not that i use it for designing so i guess a font preview wouldn't be useful.
i know that every other program i use, including notepad, has this feature, so i probably don't need it in "real design software", but what the heck!

It'd be nice if they fix the shoddy GPU implementation in PS - I'd kind of like to have GPU whizzery AND a distinct, logical marquee, where I'd like. Having the compromise of either/or in this regard seems a little ..weak.

Also, if they could entirely get rid of the 3D menu in PS. I've never used it. I never will. It's waste of electrons.

Illy file sizes could be smaller - I saved off a really simple single-layer vector yesterday, to email out - it weighed in at over a megabyte. Much as I hate it, Corel Draw saved the same data in less than 80kb.

Why the fuck can't Illy edit/export Fonts? We have a 3d tool in photoshop, but no entry-level means to edit glyphs? Daft.

    • hehe... waste of electronsitstimefortea1/5
There are other versions of Photoshop that don't have the 3D menu. They are considerably cheaper too.monospaced2/5
i didnt know corel could a save vector epsEtype3/5
      It's a program for editing vectors?detritus4/5
I would buy it if they just made all the programs lighter/ run faster, that would be awesomeukit5/5

Illustrator CS4 does not support f*cking Arabic text!
O_o but has some weird pattern tools that nobody use...

still the multi-artboard was a great addition!

    • weird, my Illustrator CS4 does ... perfectlymonospaced1/2
I take that back. Looks like you need an Arabic version of CS4 to handle the type correctlymonospaced2/2

I just bought cs4 design premium a month ago. Wonder if I'm eligible for a free upgrade?
Pain in the ass to have a newer version than everyone else.
I have CS4 at work, but a few of my designers have CS3. If I tweak something in InDesign CS4, I have to export it to a CS3 interchange file or they can't open it.

    • yeah, that does bug, but CS4 has been around for awhile nowmonospaced1/3
yes, budget cuts had limited the number of licenses for CS4, so the juniors were s.o.l.bulletfactory2/3
my wife won a copy of cs3 mater collection, so i used that at home until recently. new computer; thought i'd upgradebulletfactory3/3
