    Godaddy has a feature to watch and grab expired domains... for a fee. But really, I find the registrars hold onto expired domains for a while and often auction good ones.

    Yeah, I asked a coworker who successfully snagged a domain he wanted and he said GoDaddy was not a good option for this - not sure why or what the difference is though.

    The process is actually even more cumbersome than I thought.

    It seems to give a lot of power to the registrars but I guess if you were the only one paying attention and had some patience you could win out.

    snapnames.com. even when i've let my own domains slip into grace period it's worked out cheaper than the registrar's release fee to leave it to expire and use these guys.
