  Does anyone know if there is a quick way to get this effect in illustrator or photoshop. I need to do a comp, I would go in and hand craft later.

• dyspl

  haftone is the way to do it, usual filter in photoshop.
  engraver 2 plugin has some nice features + halftones if you willing to spend 50$

  it seems a bit more controlled than the halftone filter - maybe i just need to get the dots bigger

  if you set all the halftone channels to 45 degrees it also makes for a more controlled dot pattern
