I'll be in Hong Kong for two days (1 night) in mid June, to fly out to Manila after that stay.

Could somebody recommend me some hotels that are fairly central and not so expensive.

It's my first time in HK..

btw .. Hotels for stay in Manila are also welcome.

    Thanks!

I stayed here in September. OK. Nothing incredible. Tip would be to skip their breakfast.

    • Good choice, we stayed here, cheap yet chic(ish)nigpay1

The Cosmo hotel seems reasonable .. you can get a standard room for 86 dollars a night .. and it's only for one night .. so that might be fine ..

Mingle seems quite cheap .. You can get an executive suite for 182 euros a night .. not that much of a suite then i suppose .. rooms go for about 100euros .. seems fine ..

Are they both okay location wise?

    • Location is alright, not overlooking harbour if that's what you're after. Keep in mind that getting around in HK isn't hard. Good metro.neandersthal1/2

I walk around and look for travel agents...yes travel agents....walk in and ask for your price range....they will beat it.

They are located all over hong kong. It has worked wonders for me over 8-9 times. Sometimes you have to book multiple hotels for extended stays e.g. 1 day here - 2 days there - 1 day over there. I always find a nice place usually for 30-40 USD less than what the desk quote is.

    • LoL not if you're Westerners. No special dealsebastianfrench1/3
wrong. This has served me well so much that I stopped booking in advance. I'm a westerner.kommute2/3

    Sevva is absolute shite!

The Cosmo is a good hotel, but a bit out of the way in Happy Valley. YMCA is decent too, but over on Kowloon side so a bit off the beaten track too.

If you want a good insight into Hong Kong life I would recommend something in Central, or maybe even Wan Chai if you like a little spice.

Try The Upper House in Pacific Place:

    http://www.upperhouse.com/Pages/…

Brand new...amazing restaurant and bar. If you don't end up staying here then at least go to Cafe Grey for a drink and enjoy the view.

For the love of god don't eat at Aqua or any of the other Aqua restaurants. Absolute shite.

    • for tourists aqua is pretty rad. or that hutong restaurant a few floors above/belowinteliboy1/5
Terrible food for the price - over-hyped joke.jevad2/5
make sure if you goto Wan Chai, to not go on the subway to Chai Wan.. i did that.. :(e-pill3/5

Why most hongkong companies hired white ppl for their top management positions?

    • Hong Kong became a colony of the British Empire after the First Opium War (1839–1842).utopian1/2
