I do not like were this world is going these spec work offers. If they do it for advertising, why wouldn't they do it for ever other industry. Could you imagine?
They want people to work for free for the good of the community then the community choose who should get paid.
I am sorry but for one I am individual and I do not participate in group think. If I work on a project for an outside client or potential client then I deserve to be compensated.

its not a losing battle, I think every time a company offers a spec work contest thing they should be reminded in writing that its bad and why. They are taking advantage of people who think this is a proper opportunity for creative work when everyone, including the winner, gets jipped.

the fact that SS is looking to avoid the high priced middle men (post houses and agencies) should tell you how the market is moving. they MUST be afraid of being shown up by a newbie graduate.
