So I have a ton of images, what I need to do is resize them to a 149x149 white square but keep the image at 105 max width or height, and centered on the 149x149 square.
How the heck do I set this action up in Photoshop CS3

I guess you could make a master 149 file and the action each file to resize and paste into the 149, then save layers out from that image. Sounds like a clunky way even to me though.

You crop to 105 and flatten image (make sure background color is set to white) and then to image > canvas size 149 x 149 (from center).

What foz says, or use Fireworks. It's much better at batching small images for web. (Quicker, easier, better compression to quality).

I will try FW next round.

use the image processor. it's in file menu and it was built to do just this.

record an action doing what hotroddy said, put all your images into a single folder and go file > automate > batch, choose your action and choose the source and destination folder.
