blame the client. tell them it's going to cost more. then send them something ugly with lot's of spelling mistakes in.
When they call you up and threaten to not pay you anything, inspiration will suddenly appear.

Theoretically, you've done the research and analysis needed to provide quality design work for this project long ago, so the production work should be relatively doable. If, so this is what I do to recharge:
1. If you can spare the time, give yourself an hour to do whatever you want, as long as it has nothing to do with design. Go grab a bite or a drink somewhere out of the house, if you can.
2. Get back to your keyboard and spend the next 30 minutes doing whatever you want in design.
3. Finally, strap in and do the job. IMO, this is the difference between a veteran and a rookie. If, however, you haven't spent the requisite analytical time on the project dissecting it like a cow's brain in science class, then you're up against a pretty tall hurdle. But it can still be conquered. You just must proceed with speed, precision and above all, the freedom to allow yourself to not question your solutions too much. Let it flow, and meet your deadline.
If that doesn't work, fall on your sword and ask for an extension. But perhaps you could do so with a glimpse to the client of what potential lies behind the curtain.
Question: Are you going to disappoint a boss or a client? In other words, are you in-house or freelancing?
- when you work in a studio or agency, you can piss off both lol :(tOki

Exercise does wonders for me. Also, I have great ideas while sitting on the can. Seriously.
Even just getting out for a walk, heading to the coffee shop, taking a drive, etc. can really clear the neural pathways.
Smoking weed will only produce a lack of peanut butter in your pantry.

srsly though. forget everything you've been trying to do and think simple. often when you're in a situation like that, you're probably trying to be too creative. think just about solving the problem... and then cocaine.

cocaine...

Find an 'obscure' artistic work from a few years ago, slap your client's branding all over, charge extortionately then claim some industry awards.
Oh, hang on, you are in advertising aren't you?
- dijitaq0
concentrate. work on it. finish it.
but then... got called by the client they decide to postpone the project and wanted their down payment back.
well, that's what happened a couple of weeks ago.
