Even tho I don't really support the 2012 idea - I've been thinking of this lately,
Unless something completely random happens on D 2012 - earthquake, super volcano etc. we will have some idea of what is going to happen before December. Ie, comet, war, famine, plague, economic crisis... there will be some sort of Event Horizon, or Point of No Return , in which we will know what is going to happen or a possible set of outcomes.
Example , if its a comet; in Feb. 2012 - we see discover it coming into our solar system.
If its some sort of WW3 or combination of things... you get the pointIsn't that a more interesting date? Although we will never know when that EH day will be....what do you guys think; is an answer to the 2012 mystery possible b4 2012?

About the only real thing that is certain is the Venus will be in Transit after it's last leg of 2004, which appears to have been responsible for the 2004 Tsunami. Stuff has been going around the globe always - it just wasn't televised.
I's like talking to the recently deceased sister of my great grandmother. She read the headlines in papers and kept repeating how safe and quiet the world was when she was younger and turning to shit nowadays.
Her sister got slaughtered by Ukrainian guerillas during WW2. Her husband was murdered coming back from work in late 50's. Her son was killed by thugs 35 years ago. She lived safely with her daughter for the last 30 years of her life and just kept looking for how the world kept getting worse.
We live in the best times ever, most of us just don't appreciate it.
