Is there a font replacement solution that doesn't give me a jumpy page load? Currently, Cufón font replacement doesn't kick in until page text has already loaded, resizing and rejustifying most of my content. Not pretty on a slow connection.
Any options?

have you tried putting Cufon.now(); just above the closing </body> tag?
<script type="text/javascript">
Cufon.now();
</script>

Oh interesting! I'll try

http://typekit.com/ is another alternative

I've put cufon.now() just above the body tag. Google Analytics code is below cufon, so it's the last thing, and cufon.now() is the second last thing.
It still flickers, and jumps. The page loads with the regular font (arial) then it changes to mine. Looks like a very disturbing effect.
Typekit is useless in comparison. In browsers where a user specifies "Use my fonts only" (ignore website's fonts), Cufon works but Typekit doesn't.
Anyway, hope someone could help me with cufon, thanks!

Been using http://www.typotheque.com/ new web-font thingy on a site I'm working on. Pretty good I have to say – although there is a FOUC (flash of unstyled content) issue in FireFox. There is a workaround though: http://paulirish.com/2009/avoidi…

... but IE8 doesn't like that technique... scroll down to comments for alternatives.

Cufon is the fastest option.

yeah, i'm using cufon, in my experience (and that's only slightly above fuck all) it seems more reliable and degrades more easily for non-conforming browsers. i guess it really depends what you would prefer to use and iron out the bugs with.
