"For months there have been hints from Hulu's owners of a looming pay model, perhaps as early as this year."
I love the way Hulu is set up now. Can't see paying for it, though.

If you have to pay, why use Hulu?
Why not just download it in iTunes, or use some other pay-per-view service?

The idea is that the site would stay free, but you would pay to have access to the back catalogs of the shows. I guess it's a way for them to make more money, but it seems like kind of a niche audience.

people will pay... oh yes they will pay...
- seriously just think what kind of business netflicks is doing and what sort of web exposure hulu already has. = profiteieio
- they got their foot into a big new market pretty goodeieio
- agreed, i guess, but it feels like they're selling out a bit.imakethepictures
- selling out? they are invested up the ass by some major media companieseieio

- I don't mind watching those 30 sec ads at all, some of them are very cool. >>>imakethepictures
- I'd rather they increase the frequency of those than set up a pay scheme.imakethepictures

I have Netflix right now. Got it for streaming on the PS3. My 3-year-old watches more stuff on it than I do. Curse that Bob the Builder.

i remember hearing the adage that you cant charge for something that was once free. Especially if there are other free or cheaper services out there that offer the same thing. Shame tho, i really liked hulu

they're not charging for the same stuff they're charging for more, i'm pretty sure this was on the plate since its inception. on demand streaming video to your tv or web device is the future, if not the now, and hulu is designed for that and is one of the few endowed with so much content.
