I started with Photoshop 1.0+ and before even that, an app that fitted on a single 1.3mb floppy called Imagestudio. I forget who it was by now, and there have been countless apps called Imagestudio since, but the one I'm talking about was the bare chassis upon which they then built Photoshop. It was greyscale only, and it had pencil and brush tools, plus a smudge finger and a crude cloning tool that meant you could do 3D-looking worms of brush sized lumps of your image.

^ Even though the process led to interruption in Thomas’ thesis work, the brothers released “Image Pro” in 1988.
That's what I was thinking of, not Imagestudio. I had that running on an Apple LC2 with 4mb ram and a 40mb HD.

I remember when they used to benchmark the speed of a Mac by how long it took the machine to run a 20-pixel Gausian Blur on a 200MB image file.

1.0 in '90 and never looked back.
We've come a long way together. I'm gettin' all misty-eyed.
