This is good work. please scrap all that blue/green/anime nonsense you've done up until now and just copy whoever did this and maybe the games will be salvaged.

it looks great, but there is nothing "olympic" about that spot except the elements

- no one watching or competing, what the olympics are forversion3
- thank you for listing the elements. there is nothing social about that brooding spotversion3
- I agree with V3. But it's pretty visually stunning.Gucci

there are no inuit in vancouver so fuck off.

Looks cool. Too dark tho - Nothing cute and cuddly to market. Also, I never understood where the Inuit/Inukshuk element quite fit in with the current Vancouver Olympic marketing anyways.

It perpetuates the notion that Canadians all live in igloos. Won't people be surprised when they get to Vancouver and its green and raining?
- Whistler will be plenty cold.********
- better that than perpetuating the myth that we're all second-rate manga characters.********

version3 i'm not sure that you actually "get" the olympics.
- i understand both its mythical and french uses, they all call for competitionversion3
- besides, winter games have nothing to do with its roots and are a 20th century add onversion3
- perhaps ideally it's about competition, but for quite a while now it's been about branding , marketing and development.********

the medals are based on inuit art - i think they're stunning

The medals are beautiful.
It's easy to be angry about the appropriation of First Nations and Inuit design in the 2010 games, but at the same time it's long overdue that Canadians be able to identify with that part of our shared culture.
- They only identify with it when they can market it to foreigners.cactusgrrrl

Some people need to read about the Inukshuk:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inu…
http://juliekinnear.com/about/in…The Olympics don't have to just be about the city they take place in. That's part of it, of course, but it should include the entire nation and its history.

No ones 'angry' about native art being used. In fact most people love it. It's just that the inukshuk is kind of odd , since they are none in B.C.
Using Haida art would've been a much better choice for the logo.
What ever. It's all good.

- It's not that there are none, but they aren't native (pun) to BC.i_monk

The original cost estimate was $660 million in public money. It's now at an admitted $6 billion and steadily climbing. An early economic impact statement was that the games could bring in $10 billion. Price Waterhouse Coopers just released their own study showing that the total economic impact will be more like $1 billion. In addition, the Olympic Village came in $100 million over budget and had to be bailed out by the city.
