I'm sitting on the bus wondering why I haven't developed a qbn iPhone app?
- partdeux0
Because you can access it the same way you're doing right now? maybe?

Just the responce I expected from qbn'ers.

i'm sitting at my desk wondering why you haven't developed a QBN iphone app
- ESKEMA0
just do it
- forcetwelve0
yeah do it - then SELL it
- Interesting from a legal point of view, but I think it probably works ok in iPhone/Safari.CyBrain

I'd do it but I'm too lazy.

you might want to ask jason if this is ok first. i created a mini desktop version of Newstoday back in '04 and was kindly asked not to distribute it.
i already have a half-working demo of a qbn app started, but obviously this was just for fun, but i'm sure they'll want to do this in-house if at all. at least, i would.
- that's funny i did the same with an NTMini® and they emailed me to chat about it...prophet0NE
- cool, when was this?SteveJobs
- I want to see!Meeklo
- it was just a page that auto popped a sized-to-fit mini window for the PVN. nothing special.prophet0NE
- prob around 2004/05 ish...prophet0NE
- kinda like what foobaz has done below. only we didn't have iphones, we had abacuses...prophet0NE

I made this for QBN PV browsing on my iPhone - if something is interesting enough I click through.

^ That said I don't think an iPhone App is needed...a nice lightweight mobile version would be great.

just do it
there are a hundred apps that display FML's content and nobody's going to hell for it

I said it once but I don't want to build a scraper of the site, the ideal thing would be an API on qbn side serving json/xml of the public voice, but that needs work from the QBN supreme masters, anyway.
I'd love to have a QBN public voice iPhone app, another really good community (but of gamers, shacknews.com) has their own iPhone app called "latest chatty" and it's wonderful.
- my point being: anything related to this should be authorized by QBN ownersernexbcn

^ correct. this is how i approached mine. i built a few custom web services/handlers that simulated the api they'd have to open up.
i honestly figured someone would have already taken the initiative on this.
- scarabin0
so has anyone actually talked to him about it?

• you would have to develop it for free.
• the market is very limited.
• as stated above, you can access the site through the web browser so again, the market is limited to the users who don't want to use the browser. meaning a percentage of an already small number.these points pretty much cover why it hasn't been developed yet. that said, the ease to develop is growing, as are developers so you never know, a developer may yet make it as a promotion to a direct market, which is not a bad idea.
maybe, if you feel this is a good app idea, you could approach some developers and gauge the interest?

someone should create one FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY as a learning exercise and then give me a copy FOR REVIEW PURPOSES ONLY. then we can not use it and not infringe on anything
