Hey I spent three weeks there in 2005 - Banos is great, also Lago Agria for the jungle. Quito has a lot of fun places to party. Also get down to the coast if you can - there are some great surf beaches down there.... And the beer is very very cheap : )

Zaq, they have guides there who take you everywhere... Schools whatever really. Spent a night in the jungle with the guide...
Only thing are the Tarantulas. On the pool table, on the toilet door...
* shivers
- I checked the tours sections on the website you gave and was considering them, thanks a lotzaq

Ecuador is the jumping off point for Galapagos islands. Quito is a bit rough, as are some other towns, but Banos was lovely

Although I remember after 4 months in the jungle mountains and trekking, thinking the KFC in Quito was possibly the greatest place on the planet, followed by darts playing in an irish pub. One everywhere.
If you can be arsed, a cool detour is Huanchaco just over the boarder in Peru, home to the worlds largest adobe city
Loved it there
