Audio/Video Experiments to music by Defiant Kinetics. Any feedback on this?

Not sure I agree with 'no cgi or animation in this one' - more like 'no rendering', or something.
Whatever though - great stuff! I can't for the life of me work out the floating foreground piece in the K&D-tuned piece.
Thanks for sharing.
- oh, the G in CGI stands for 'generated', not 'graphics', dunnit? ignore me.detritus

daymn! nice low-tek stuff i love it!!!!!!!!!!

The footage is all live action which I've used FinalCut to layer. The K&D bit is me controlling TV feedback by moving the camera to the music then layering the bits floating inthe background. So the footage hasn't been generated by a computer, only layered by one... Is this CGI?
All the movement is generated by moving me moving stuff in the real world so not animated... Its lots of fun to do because i'm not sat trying to learn After Effects and 3D MAX. cheers for the comments

very nice.... like it.

thanks bzsaw, its really hands on you know... I'm interested in working for a production studio, but they find it difficult to accept its commercial applications, really frustrating!

You should just do your own thing, then wait around for it to be disseminated across the internet, to be found by some feckless hack at an ad agency who can then steal your concept and apply it to a multimillion dollar campaign for Sony Bravia, or something.

looks really cool, you should make a reel.
Have you ever tried shooting through a pane of glass on it's edge? Some group in vancouver do visuals for parties this way and it's interactive to the partygoers. Pretty great.
You could also capture some shit hot still from your footage and mount them, surely you could come it something sellable from those.
like all of it, specially the kd!

Thanks, I think I'm going to performing the visuals live... maybe try collaborate with other VJs... Anyone know any good Live visual artists?

I love this .. great ideas. How do you regulate the effects to work in time with music? (Or do you leave it to chance?)
- jasonwileyfinsbury0
its a case jamming to the tunes for a while until the happy accident.. It takes practice having this approach but really rewarding. The results are instant because its live, but the time is spent making loads of mistakes. cheers

@jasonwileyfinsbury:
How would you deal with this in a live environment (while VJing) .. would you pre-record loops?
- could be good to use the sound to cause turbulence .. you can get water -proof speaker inserts cheaply********

It's still something I'm working on. Ideally I would use an application which enables me to mix to visual layesr, one being a live camera which i can use for my experiments and a second layer of pre recoded ambient stuff... and maybe colour control. Its important that movement relies on myself to affect things in the physical world... The speaker idea is cool, its really as well move stuff your self, like stirring the liquid to the music, stuff like that.

That was cool. I like how you show the finished product, then how you made it. Additionally, I downloaded the Defiant Kinetics zip from the site. THAT SHIT IS DOPE. Plus the Jets just scored so that rules too. haha Good stuff.
