quick background of the story
client saw this image
http://yfrog.com/0loutlookgiskap…
in a mixture of work on my site - seemed offended and pulled his contract with me due to this image - so the question - should i retune my portfolio to be more generic and client friendly or should i just not be concerned about it and show what i feel represents work i want to attract - the job i lost was fairly decent pay and larger client

^ the image was editorial image in a columbus magazine

Depends on the client.
If they are in the creative field where there are nudity such as fashion, it should be ok.
Other clients, NO. Never ever.

smut/ porn and credibility arent usually hand in hand. even if the image is creative.

You tit

It's just art. This reminds me of the guys who think Michaelangelo's sculptures are pornographic. Some people are just wound up too tight.
- who on earth thinks michelangelo's sculptures are pornographic???ckentish
- this is really shortsighted, mono. Perception...baseline_shift
- Me shortsighted? I am in support of his artwork, not against it.monospaced

the image is wrong on so many levels

I can not see one reason you would want to have that in your portfolio. Unless you wanted to work at www.beardedsuicidegirlswithsmall…...

make an alter ego with own portfolio for this kind of work.

Just kill it. I'm offended too.

it's never a great idea to have some tits in your portfolio, and if you do so boobies then give that part of the site a content warning just to be on the safe side for your clients.

haha...eh, no.

i just checked your Krop portfolio and i see the other images from that photo set but i don't see the nudity image posted there.
is there a reason you kept it off the Krop site and put it where ever your client seen it? that single image doesn't itself fit with the rest of the photos in that set so it is questionable. at least to me with out an article to match... i did see some other nudity in the krop portfolio but its not as in your face as the image in question.
maybe you need to make a separate portfolio for images such as that, you did learn that it can hurt your potential career and thus also give you a bad name surrounding your work.
you should think this over or closer to what you can now gain from it because you clearly seen what you can lose.

I'd fire you too, ffs.

Hope I don't offend you, but if it looked like a high quality photo you'd have probably got away with it. Just looks like a 'snap' you took at some odd party...

perception is everything. its easy how certain uptight clients could perceive this as in poor taste. its def not 'tasteful nudity' like a michelangelo sculpture.
That said, it all depends on the clients you are trying to attract. But, as professional communicators we need to manipulate peoples perceptions of our selves (or our studios, portfolios, etc)
- exactly...I just don't like the idea of losing a client because you created an image they aren't comfortable with.monospaced
- nicely phrased.Hombre_Lobo

i had thought of having 2 portfolios and that will probably be the easiest solution - thx
