Well I for one took the snow as an opportunity for a day off. I wasn't lazy though, me and the missus went on a really nice walk up to hampstead heath and had a couple of Mulled Wines in the Bull and Last.
It was a great day, the snow was cool to be in, there were loads of people out sledging, some guys had built a 9 ft snow cock (including the balls) and we saw David Badiel doing a bit of writing in the pub.
fuck work and the icy commute. I'm back in now though.

I took a couple of days off, rather than risk writing my car off on the sheet ice covered road outside my house then being unable to get to work when it finally thaws out....
Luckily my mate has a Land Rover so I could get out and enjoy it - here's some pics from Dartmoor:

- Thanks! More luck than judgement though, I couldn't see a thing cause the viewfinder was full of snow...markeebee
- looks like Iceland. Thats Plymouth, England?74LEO
- Surreal, isn't it! Actually it's not Plymouth but Dartmoor, which is a big wilderness about 10-20 miles from the city.markeebee

I think it comes down to not being sufficiently prepared.
Our country as a whole does not usually get that much snow, if in fact, any horrendous weather at all. Because of this, our government hasn't invested in salt/grit, or the trucks to clear the snow. That's why I think the country is in panic. Not to mention the media over hyping everything.
My fiance has had to take the last few days off work since we live in an area surrounded by hills and I'd rather not risk her nor the car (a little fiesta) on the iced up roads. I think that's more common sense than panic.
Anyways, I've not benefited from the weather, I work from home and therefore have no excuse for not turning up everyday :-(

congratulations on having a winter. No pity from me. It's 10 degrees Fahrenheit here, with several inches of snow on the ground. I'm so over this cold snap.

just back from the beach. It was a tough day as i got some sand on my hand with the sunscreen on it. very stressful
- lowimpakt0
so has anyone considered how we'll clear the drains of sand before the next floods and make sure the chloride from the salt doesn't pollute streams?
no? ok so.

It's just taken me 4 hours to unsuccessfully make it to the office because of about 1 inch of snow.

very much enjoyed the 2 days of walking on terra firma this week. thoroughly bored of the snow now

getting sick of people cancelling meetings. stupid fucks.

It is fucking stupid. I had to get a bus from the bus station to get home again - but the buses wouldn't leave because apparently they wouldn't get up the hill which is LITERALLY yards away because it was too 'treacherous'. Everyone at the bus stop took the 1 minute to walk to look up the hill. Lorrys, cars, taxis, all going up the clearly visible tarmac while the wankers at the major fucking bus depot refused to take a fucking peep round the corner to reassess the situation.

It was snowing again this morning,
It was cold last night,
I don't think it will snow tomorrow

You're better off than Haiti.
