1940s Government Aesthetic

  Does anyone know where I can find a resource on the nature of 1940s, U.S. Government, Military or bureaucratic design? I'm talking about forms, signage, rubber-stamps, office stuff -- particularly U.S. military schtick. An online resource or a book recommendation would be great.
