Just heard a cool show about bookstores and how they are trying to adapt and stay relevant.
http://kuow.org/program.php?id=1…While listening to this i realized that i can't think of one awesome bookstore around where i live, Encinitas, CA.
May I ask, do you have a favourite bookstore around your neighborhood? Do you frequent it often? What's your favourite thing about it?

hmmm Encinitas huh? Well there is a small town called San Diego just south of Encinitas and I believe there are scores of bookstores there! I personally like F Street Bookstores as they have a wide range of reading and viewing materials. They even have nice comfy reading nooks where you can view E-Readers and get your shoes sticky from the floor. They are also really nice and quiet as noone talks to eachother or makes eye contact!
- Thanks Amok. I still wish there was one closer, something I could call neighborhood bookstore.monoblanco
- Sorry sarcasm got the best of me!

Powell's is huge here... although, mostly we go there to find things we want to reserve at the library, and read and drink coffee. :)

I remember the Tattered Cover in Denver being pretty cool book store.

I love bookstores, but there are only two around here and just one of them is awesome... lots of super rare stuff that I could never afford, some from like 1700 and shit... there used to be another in this attic but I think it closed down.
- The mediocre one is Oblong Books (there are a few in NY).ismith

There's a good independent around the corner. Nicola's Books. I go there nearly every week. Also, my town is home to Border's, so that's the local bookshop to, and I go there and buy stuff. Plus the locally incredibly great comic book store, Vault of Midnight!
All in all, they're hard on my wallet. But I can't help myself, so fuck it.

Dude, Ducky Waddles is right down the street from you, next to Lou's Records. I buy books and shit from there all the time. Owner's name is Jerry, and he's super cool. He could really use more business too.
- Yeah I was going to suggest that place too. My fav is the used book store on 4th or 5th in Hillcrest. Forget the name, nocomply
- I like that place too. I think it's called 5th Ave books.DRIFTMONKEY
