I've had an iPhone for nearly two years and it's fucking great. It'll tell me the yardage on my golf shots, tune my guitar, keep track of all sorts of shit, play my tunes, check my stocks, let me read the paper, keep track of my photos of my daughter, make phone calls, let me watch all kinds of shows and movies and youtube. Plus I've got lots of games loaded on it for my wee daughter to play, so it keeps her happy.
If you want to mess with some other shit, well, it's a free country. But you're probably wasting your time.

Thanks all, much appreciated :)
The iphone is deliciously smooth. Is there a hack out to get flash content working on iphone?
i do have to say that them not allowing flash content is pretty cowardly.
Having read that it is mainly so that people don't make flash web based applications which would divert money and attention from the apps store.

I just got the Motorola Droid and I'm extremely impressed. I didn't own the iPhone, but a lot of friends do and the two phones are similar in functionality. Sure there are a lot more apps for the iPhone, but all of the apps my friends use on their iPhones have their Droid counterparts.
You can't go wrong either way, but the Droid does have a better resolution and Flash support is coming "early 2010."

hmmm, everyone is loving the iphone.
i need to put them side by side and decide, im thinking that the smoothness of the iphone may win me over, android is nice but i am beginning to think the iphone is very seamless.

Quality wise, the iPhone is the best phone I've had. I still have the first gen and it is basically flawless.
Big grips now - can't email attachments (so all those photos I have on my phone are essentially worthless) and no Flash support.
I'll replace soon, too. If the Droid performs anything like the other phones out there (the programming is just rough, no smooth transitions, no fluid motion, ugly buttons, etc.), I'll pass. I love how refined the functionality is of the iPhone, really quite remarkable.

went down to my local phone shop, put a htc hero next to an iphone had a play and the iphone is so much more responsive and smooth with the transitions.
Android is still immense however. Im gonna wait for the new stuff this month -android 2.0, nexus phone and apples new 'thing', but im set on an iphone i think.thank you all for the help, really appreciated.
Thanks formed for letting me know about the bad points, however few there are :D

Actually, I reckon get an android phone -> http://www.zii.com
At the moment you need to buy a developer kit to get one, but could still be worth it. Otherwise, hopefully they'll start selling to consumers fairly soon.
