Charged a client for an hour of time to de-archive and recompile all their files and then burn on DVD. The job was finished over 2 years ago. Now they don't want to pay. They have the files and the invoice - 2 months on still no cheque. Any thoughts?

was thinking that a #tweet might be an option. Don't really care to work for them again.

Tell em' Merry Hanukkah and that the invoice was a joke. They probably laughed when you said "de-archiving". This is one of those times when you just eat it for free to make the client happy and hope that they come back with 100 more billable hours for you. Now they prolly think you'll nickel and dime them for the next project and go to the next guy.

I have withheld archive discs and collected source files until job is paid in full. I've also helped out a client that lost/misplaced said archived discs for free. I wouldn't make a habit of it but I'm sure you've padded or billed a few extra hours to them, haven't you?
