Thoughts? Ideas? It's supposed to go on t-shirts for the Jay Nolan Classic Blood & Steel fencing tournament, benefiting autism care/research.
I have a few sketches on paper but this is all I could throw onto the computer before totally losing my focus and having no idea what I should do next– consider this a digital equivalent of scribbling in the margin (Illy isn't working at home so I've got to make the 1.5hr drive to the graphics lab @ school to do anything more).
I was asked to do it (free, of course) so between testing and my college apps I haven't had any time to think about it really. I tried a number of different positions and came to like this one the best (though originally I had the epee following the slope of the arm, which I may go back to). Didot seemed to fit well and I'm prone to ribbony things so I might draw something to replace that reversed ampersand... anyway have at it, it's a bit of a drive so I expect a full page of helpful criticisms and disparaging remarks by the time I get home.

Also, type suggestions are VERY welcome. I mean I love Didot and all, but the fuck if I have any clue as to what I'm doing.

reminds me of MJ logo i like it though.

type + image - integration = dull

the hairline serif's might come out funky when screen printed.
I think the biggest thing is- what's it look like on the shirt? how is it laid out on the shirt? ink effects? as an illustration it looks good.

i didn't read any of your post, but it looks like the dude's head is on backward

i realise that typeface is having it's time again but once printed and from more than a metre will it simply become illegible? should it be thickened up a tad to all for this? just asking?

looks like an astronaut.

Just use the type on its own for the logo

consider figuring out some sort of two color overprint. you can do fine detail if it's on top of another color. might not work for your design here though.

my advice, simplify. think type. it's a great name. don't use the whole fighter either, use a piece, like just the mask or just the sword thingy

This is a good logo, you should exaggerate the gesture of the logo a bit, it would really liven it up. Think late Rembrandt vs early Rembrandt.
I would also integrate the logo and the words a bit more, right now the ampersand just wraps around the fencers legs looks more like a ribbon dancer logo than a fencing logo.
Think stabbing.

For the record, I love it as is. But I agree that hairline serif could pose readability issues in application.
