Has anyone attended the Hyper Island/One Show Masterclass classes - North American workshops specifically - ? Is it worth the money/time?
Here's what I'm talkin boot: http://masterclasses.oneshow.org…

Internet and other interactive platforms are becoming more and more important marketing channels for creative projects. Clients and agencies are all talking about how to involve new technology in projects, asking questions like:
What are the advantages and possibilities of interactive media?
How should interactive media most efficiently be used?
What are the trends?
How can one stay up to date?
- MrDinky0
If you dont know the above already, it wouldnt matter what you take. You just learn some buzz words to annoy your underlings.
- theyCallMeMista0
So no, you haven't taken the course.
- MrDinky0
$4000. Do you think you will learn a lot in two days?
- MrDinky0
What you are doing is paying $4000 to network.

- I agree with that too for suretheyCallMeMista
- theyCallMeMista0
Probably not no. That's why I'm asking. I wouldn't be paying so it's not about the money, it's about it being beneficial or a colossal waste of time...

holy *(!&@!@, *$4000!*

The swedish version looks like something that I'd love to spend 3 days doing: http://www.hyperisland.se/index.…
I'm just wondering about North America's version...

The topics suggest that this is the type of info for people long overdue in understanding it. It reads more like a "here's what's been going on in the last five years," than a "here's where we are headed."
At 4k, this does not seem like specialized enough topic material. You could really pick a lot of this up from readily available free and low cost sources.- Between Wired, AdAge, and a sampling of blogs, you could teach this course.harlequino
- yup. agreed.theyCallMeMista

most water-shed moments in thought, for me in my lifetime, have always happened in a split-second - when i was ready to see what needed to be seen. If they have amazing speakers and a solid methodology of translating great ideas, two-days could change your life

If I was a client, I would look at the list of people who attended and not hire them as an agency as they should know all this.
--Rob Schwartz, Chief Creative Officer, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Los Angeles, USA
--Kevin Moehlenkamp, Chief Creative Officer, Hill Holiday
--Chris Mitton, Group Creative Director, Ogilvy
-- Tim Leake, Creative Director, Saatchi & Saatchi NY
--Todd Riddle, Group Creative Director BBH-NYC

And we get a fame whore here. WAY TO GO OGILVY !
"Very valuable. The network you made, the experience you’ve had and the idea of working at your best possible when around good teamwork was what made this experience unbelievable.
(...) It was definitely a life-changing opportunity."
--Jacqueline Jung, Ogilvy, New York, USA- sorry, that's a reason NOT to go?theyCallMeMista
- $4000 to meet chicks? You desperate?MrDinky
- Does she use her MySpace pic as her professional headshot?harlequino
- no but i do love whorestheyCallMeMista
- HAHA - I read that note as "$4000 to 'meat' chicks". much different meaning than "meeting" them.bulletfactory
- HAHAHAHMrDinky
- harlequino0
Agreed, Dinky. Not only should they have a deep understanding of it, aren't these the guys who (theoretically) should be the visionaries or pioneers themselves?
- MrDinky0
I could see this as an exec training for client side but not agency.
Can easily learn from a mid level interactive guy in the same office. I guess they feel spending $4000 would magically transform them in to some digital guru.
- Whoever's running the masterclass has a well planned grift going on, for sure.harlequino

love the hate. i do. and i agree with you all. it's probably bullshit.
However, I am wondering if anyone that has actually gone to it has any feedback that's not posted on their apparently whore-laced testimonial page...
