It's hard to know what happened really. Maybe the soldiers fucked up the laptop for a thrill, or to scare her, or because she was acting like a maniac.
It's also entirely possible the story is completely made up, for whatever reason, who knows. Just because something is written on the internet doesn't mean it happened. The story could be completely true; it could be slightly distorted; it could be an entire fabrication.
How would one know? How would one check out the story? How would one ever have the time to check out all the stories out there?

Based on the picture, they must have shot it while the laptop was close. Think about that for a second. A closed Macbook doesn't stand on its side real well (I assume) since it's pretty flat. So they must have done 1 of four things:
1. Put it on the ground/floor and stood over, risking ricochet and blowback
2. Leaned it up against something in kind of an awkward way so it would be flat
3. Someone held it out at arms' length (bad idea)
4. Thrown it up in the air like a skeet shooter- 4, please let it be 4.mydo
