I just can't help but ask again:
"Isn't Chrome a bit like HAL or Big Brother? IE: Slurping your browsing info for Google's own dastardly statistics?"I don't want Google to Chrome over all my stats

THis is not unique to Chrome, everyone knows everything about you anyway, including those "sexy Miley Cyrus pics" you Googled last weekend you perv.

And unless you are requesting something specifically @ google.com you can always block extra traffic with apps like little snitch or a firewall.

opera 10 is the way to go in my book. also just did the update so now my web browser works like a webserver for transfering media. Use it for my mail application, sticky notes, built in torrent app... its really awesome. firefox is my secondary but i have been not liking it so much, ie third. Oh yea i also like opera development tools built into the browser.

i dont know how it is on a mac. but im diggin it on a pc. ram load can be a bit dependant upon how much u use it for and what u allow it to do. i use to bag on it back in the day. but damn its come around. i like the fully skinnable/customizeable gui. i like its email (a little different because its really thread dependent, but part of its speed) my favorite of ie/firefox/old chrome... havent tried the latest chrome. i recommend a test run for anyone on pc and see how they like it.

To those suffering from high memory consumption in Firefox: how many extensions do you have installed? Disable your extensions and check memory usage again.
Also, Firefox 3.5 (the current stable version) was the first FF release with the all-new TraceMonkey Javascript engine. My understanding is that the development team's main focus in 3.5 was to get the new Js engine released with no major bugs, and that we can expect significant performance gains in future releases as there is lots of room for optimization (including memory usage).
I like Safari, except for the retarded auto-completing URL bar that doesn't behave like any other part os OS X. Apple, what were you thinking?

^^ does anybody else notice this or is this only my computer (or hallucinations) ?

I find that any browser is a memory hog. Especially if you like to keep a bunch of tabs open and they're heavy flash sites. I also think the garbage collection methods in AS3 are too difficult for developers.

Yep, i've switched to Chrome. Firefox is brilliant but a memory hog and slow. Only open it for Firebug and web dev tools.
Chrome all the way.

Pretty geeky, but nonetheless interesting.

I prefer Chrome on the PC, FF on Mac

Feel the same. Chrome all the way. Once they release the mac version, it's goodbye FF.
