I know how to backup my email messages easily enough but are there any third party programs that will also backup email accounts, rules and signatures? Surely MS could have built this into the program!

Not exactly sure what it saves out but maybe look into exporting a Personal Folder File (PST) file from Outlook....

You could just back up the whole Main Identity folder using your usual backup software (depending on your .pst or .ost file size)

my tip, for what it's worth, have your pst file in your second drive. that way you can reinstall windows, outlook etc. without having to back up anything. just point it back in the right place.
