It's sad that people choose to take chimps as pets. Generally when bush hunters go and get baby chimps they shoot the entire family (because they're so protective of their young not unlike humans) and only take the little baby's as they can sell them on the black market to people.
For every baby chimp you get there's been a chimpanzee family murdered. Not saying that that lady's scars aren't horrific.. just saying. I've been to a chimpanzee orphanage.. it's amazing to see yet completely disturbing.

I have in-laws in Stamford, CT who are fairly good friends with the victim. I remember when they came back from the hospital they were white as sheets and just said "her face is gone." It was horrible.

Animals belong to mother nature.
End of the story.- +1 you shouldn't be keeping a monkey as a pet. wanna know why? This is why!BaskerviIle

Monkeys can tear a man to pieces. Their torsional strength is about 10x greater than a humans. When I was a young boy in the 70's we used to go on holiday to places where there would be people with doped up chimps and you could have your pic taken with them.
A child was literally torn to pieces like a wet tissue in a holiday resort we used to go to (we weren't there at the time I didn't see it) and after that they were 'supposed' to be banned from public places. But every now and then I go on holiday and see chimps with 'owners' in the street and people standing their kids next to them, or holding their hands, or blowing raspberries at them or something and I can't believe people are not aware of how off the hook chimps are. Anything can set them off, anything at all. Highly volatile animals.
DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR A CHIMP ON LEAD IN A COUNTRY WHERE THEY ARE STILL USED FOR TOURIST PHOTOS.

You're asking for trouble when you force a wild animal to live in your house then put it on psych pills... it's a monkey, it's meant to be living in the jungle no wonder it was depressed.
