    No, I mean beyond charging for news.

    He made vague mention of 'other means of broadcasting across the waves'... that, in my mind, implies some eBook wifi device. It's been mooted previously elsewhere that a news subscriber would cost The New York Times less if they were given a Kindle-like eBook rather than a years worth of printed paper matter. It would be interesting to see if there was a mass push in this direction. Even that might be over-complicating things - I could see the benefit in a subscription-like app for iPhone or othersuch mobile device.

    Regardless, it's naive to think that all information should come free - there is a huge benefit to editorial and journalism that would be sadly and quickly missed if everything deferred to a wholly advertiser-based news wire model.

    I don't really like the guy or his politics, but I do respect him and do agree with his assertion that .. at the very least, things are out of balance.
