So does anyone here use these guys?
http://www.slicehost.com/I’m considering ditching my private set-up on 1and1 for building my own custom server complete with my own SVN/GIT repos. It’s a learning curve, but I think it’ll be handy experience.

Haven't had any downtime in about a year and half
Full control - learn some things.
They have tutorials that run you through setting up everything

I see they're a "Rackspace" company, I always heard good things.

I have fatcow.com. The servers are fast and really cheap!

@moth - you will dig slicehost. I have had a server there for about 3 years now. not 1 complaint.
Since you know your way around things - you will like the freedom to compile anything you want into your server, run anything basically. They dont hold your hand, but the community is really helpful. The wiki has just about anything you'd want to know, and if that doesnt work, the SH support staff is always on campfire, and they will walk you thru it.

I'm gonna bump this because I just got a pingdom uptime report for http://mgiesser.com which is 100%. That's pretty much unheard of in my time as a developer and I might get round to charging him this year....
