Not sure if this has been posted before, but you can watch all the episodes if this product design reality extravaganza on vimeo. Personally I think Stark's design is more for show then for practical use, but I rather like the guy. Once you get over his stupid accent he's kind of fun and he treats the participants in a smart way.
Bon appetit girls!

I liked the show, probably because it was design centric, but I was really disappointed by the participants. The level of quality was painfully low in my opinion.

^ The presentations initially were drawn in felt and looked very unprofessional, including the brand presentations!
After watching the whole thing it and seeing the final product and winner, she definitely deserved it with the thought process, and able to change her presentation style and evolving her creative process mostly. She began hectic and all over the place and finished in a more refined, elegant and had the idea to back it up.

^ she presented it in french which was a major effort on her part and showed dedication for the job.
wasnt impressed with the creatives but the product itself was really nice - problem is in a real world no-one would buy it - where as the magnetised plate was something i would see selling in its masses.

The two finalist where OK, nothing more....the other participants where just pathetic...I'm surprised the flashlight girl got as far as she did. A flashlite against criminals???? She'll get raped with the lights on one day...

the stick was cool and stark likes to sell things cheap, it could be injection molded of recycled plastic or soy plastic whatever the only problem was needing one for both sides, so it's two molds not just one. the fact that it stood up made it accessible in the home not needing to but could be stored in a closet more likely near the door or bed. it would kill on american infomercials

Not a bad show in the end, and the 2 product where well thought out to a point. What really amazed me was not one of the student used a 3D programme to produce there designs, or ideas. They all seemed to use Adobe Illustrator for some unknown reason? WTF is that about.

I think it was better when I knew very little about Mr. Stark. Since watching the show I think he's a hypocrite and a clown.

The main thing is, that even the level of presentation was so incredibly poor. When I studied product design (admittedly only for 2 years) we'd be nuked by our teachers if we came along with a shoddy presentations like that.
One thing I would have loved to see is a proper model workshop where they could have made their own prototypes, which is an essential thing to product design.

Bunch of sexually confused wannabees desperately trying to be creative simply for the point of being creative, fuck off please.
