My favorite art movement is when my work moves out of the gallery and moves into someone's home.

There have been movements up until now... so is there any need or reason for them to exist moving forward? Are Art Movements becoming a thing of the past or will museums, galleries, influencers get nervous and begin to "tag" existing and future works into buckets (for the sake of tradition)?

there is no movement. it doesn't exist.
- I agree .. any movement generally starts from, or becomes, an orchestrated marketing campaign.lukus_W

Post-modernism kind of works as an end-all.

eclecticism... as we have have so many varied resources, ideas and influences available for us through the web. We able to access more information than ever before and in turn our art is affected by it.

I've written an essay on this very question. Art splintered into so many different -isms at the end of last century that there truly is no avant garde anymore.
I'm the editor of an online arts journal and I asked about six writers to answer the question "What is Contemporary Art?" Each of them had a different response.
For example, one writer who studied Contemporary Art in college, wrote the essay, "My Tattoo is Contemporary Art" http://www.escapeintolife.com/es…
Here's my essay: http://www.escapeintolife.com/es…
Tell me if you agree/disagree with my conclusions. I talk a lot about copying, mashups, combined media, etc
