I think focusing on video is actually a good idea, because more and more people are using their computer and the internet for television, and ditching cable.
Most times I will use services like Boxee that compile those news feeds, but i wouldn't mind going to their site to look at a story.
Though, I usually can't stand CNN or any other cable news station...
I like their site redesign overall, but the layout is way better on the Politics page and some of the other sub-pages, than the home.
- Politics layout is far better than the home page.graphiknature
- yeah why are Politics pages better designed than the other ones always?SigDesign

My favorite part of the new CNN is that BETA graphic on the NewsPulse button.

They seemed to have applied the principle of "If it bleeds, it leads" to their masthead.

why is sports the last tab on the red bar? people would rather read about Tech, Entertainment, Living before sports???

The older one does look better, but like everyone else, they are moving to the whole web 2.0 trendy look.
- Wasn't it a 2004 trend?raf
- still catching upwademd
- wrong trend. The 2006 was 2.0. This is the newer HULU, everybody's watching video online trend.homeostatic

The old one was utter crap. It was aimless, impossible to decipher, and filled with tabloid journalism. It matched their brand perfectly.
This one makes me wonder if they'll apply the same level of care they took in designing their site (a successful move in my opinion) to their content. They've actually taken some steps in the right direction by upgrading a lot of the writers on the site, and including some decent contributors from other sites as well.
Here's hoping.

I like it, I think the old design 'looked nicer' on some of the pages, but the features are excellent as ever.
