hmm well i just use dreamweaver but the CSS is just too complex, i'm working off a template. anything with an href is like adding padding on the right, its driving me mad...

it's this file:
http://www.12tonestudios.net/mot…this rule:
/* Make sure the icons are not cut */
a[href^="http:"], a[href^="mailto:"], a[href^="http:"]:visited,
a[href$=".pdf"], a[href$=".doc"], a[href$=".xls"], a[href$=".rss"],
a[href$=".rdf"], a[href^="aim:"] {
padding:2px 22px 2px 0;
margin:-2px 0;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: right center;
}

for future reference, i recommend using safari and enabling the develop menu, where you can open the web inspector, or using firefox and the firebug add-on (which lets you do essentially the same thing). you can select elements and see their computed styles and where it's inheriting them from.

The selector a[href^="http:"] will be picking up the padding right which is 22px in your rule above.
You could just remove the http: selector as it's going to apply to all links. The other selectors are more specific so would add that padding to links with those extensions but basically everything will get the padding because of the http bit.

i was using Firefox/firebug and I saw that rule but didn't know what it was about. CSS has gotten a lot more complex! Thanks so much for looking at it. :)

you know its odd, when i look at the screen.css that is not in there, so its pulling it from somewhere else I guess...arg!
