    I had 2 parakeets for years. They were great. Really friendly, fun, and easy/cheap to care for.

    Some parrots run in the hundreds of dollars, and are noisy and aggressive. I would highly reccomend parakeets or parrotlets which tend to be more docile and cheaper.

    Most of these birds are tremendously social as well. If you plan on having time to spend socializing them, only get 1. They will bond strongly with you. If you dont have that kind of time, get 2, as they go crazy without a buddy. They are just less apt to bond with humans when they have a bird companion available.

    Also, be aware that some species live for a very long time.
