Accessability – Blind and Partially sighted

I have been doing some work for a charity that produces books for the blind and partially sighted community.
I have designed an icon that is to go on various websites (Amazon, Tesco) next to certain children's books to state that the book is converted for blind and partially sighted people.
I have tested the icon on a number of contrast comparison tools: http://www.456bereastreet.com/ar…
But as this is an icon not text, and the final size of it is unknown, is there a way of testing the icon or sending it to a governing body so they can approve it?
Any insight would be great

i think the importance of having good alt text on the image, a title tag on the anchor and good 'read out of context' text for the link is good.
w3c states that for AAA you shouldn't rely on images to convey any important information.
i hope this helps

I do not know if I will be aloud to have space for text. Normally it's just "provide an icon XXpx by XXpx" please.
- Can you set it as a background image and bang the text -9999px off the screen?JamesBoynton
- ahh
that wont help

Actually, a junior dev I once worked with wanted to start something with user testing that would benefit both parties. Blind associations probably need help with IT and accessibility issues, and you need to know how to test this stuff. Two-birds, one stone... probably a bit much for you set up a whole organisation though.
