So I'm making a billboard for a client, and I obviously can't make an Illustrator file that is 48 feet long, how can I make a smaller file that is to scale? Like would there be an equation for that?
Please no one tell my 10th grade Trig teacher I posted this.

how tall is it?
divide both numbers by the same number.

ummmm.... a ratio of 48'?

4' wide would be 1/12th scale.....

12' tall by 48' wide
- 6x24 = scaled down 50% = divide by 2baseline_shift
- But in inches, not feet. So 6"x24" is probably a reasonable size to work.blaw

4'wide x 1'tall

or you could just make them inches instead of feet...
or divide by 12
- fiver0
and this is just crazy.... that's not even trig. it's simple division.

Resize the image in photoshop?

Is this for real?

the OOH vendor most likely has a specific mechanical size you should use for the board you're doing along with preferred formats etc -- write them

illustrator's maximum artboard size is about 227 inches, so to get to 48 feet, you'd need about 2.5 documents. just print those out and put them together separately; that's how the pros do it, you know.

here's the equation:
x = 3√(d/2 + √e) + 3√(d/2 – √e)
