Anyone here noticed that Flash is sluggish having upgraded to Snow Leopard? This even after making sure you've got the latest Flash plug-in?
- ismith0
nope, it's fine here so far

ah... found that it is Safari that is slow, as nice and speedy on Firefox

its a bit slower in Safari because they sand boxed it so it wouldnt crash the browser anymore, because it was responsible for 98% of Safari crashes so I think they took a performance hit to prevent the crashing

My co-worker says it's becasue flash didn't upgrade to 64 bit yet. Safari 4 crashes like 3 + times a day for me.
- 64bit has nothing to do with processing speeds...zarkonite

Man, you Apple people get the new update all on the first day it is available, don't you?
- You PC guys still use Windows 98, which is 12 years old.monospaced_III
- Struck a nerve eh there, fanboy? ;)DrBombay
- Seriously though, it has been out for a month and really didn't have many user features.DrBombay
- Why bother rushing, so flash and safari can crash all the time?DrBombay
- I wait ages before upgrading. I just got on 10.5 a few months ago. maybe 2010 i'll go for 10.6acescence
- I'm not a fanboy, Dr. I have Snow Leopard, but haven't installed it yet. Looks like I struck a nerve with you, though.monospaced_III
- Not at all. If you haven't installed it yet I am not talking about you, am I?DrBombay
- You called me a fanboy. Nice port, btw.monospaced_III
- So now you went to the personal attack? You are a fucking child.DrBombay
- Why come to this thread with no useful information... you came out with the attack first.must_dash
- Yeah, I had no point at all.DrBombay

Quick fix. Use Firefox if it bothers you. Dr. Bombay I upgraded a week after it came out. Everything runs smooth like butter. Flash needs to get their shit together.

- I'm not even making this a pc/mac thing, just wondering why you feel the need to update so quickly.DrBombay
- DrB... you started this shit, and now you are getting whiney and defensive... see your counsellor before you go alll boom boom boom.Amicus
- I just asked a question, other people got sensitive because I insulted the cult of Mac.DrBombay

A heads up to our friends who will be upgrading to Windows 7.

Ok, kind of missing the point... I'm not really talking about just me looking at sites, I'm talking about users... so that is not really a quick fix.
Why would sand-boxing adjust the speed in which a fade takes place?
- becuase its rendered in a difference processor thread and drawn into the window a different way?BIGGESTDOGINTHEWORLD
- cool thanks... wasn't being funny with you :)must_dash

if i leave safari on with some hitech flashbanner going it ends up overheating to a crash within 15-20minutes. this is the 2008 unibody mbp :D

im sure i read somewhere that flash, for some reason, was downgraded in Snow Leopard but was fixed in 10.6.1. could be wrong.
- must_dash0
yeah that was just the version, i.e they packaged up the plug-in earlier than when they released Snow Leopard. Still slow now though even with upgrade.
- ckentish0
flash has always been slower on macs than PCs
- Raniator0
Snow Leopard installs an earlier (potentially vulnerable) version of Flash. Update to the latest after installing.
It's true!

Install this, Flash is a piece of shit anyway, the internet would be better off without it

If you're using Safari and Flash is slow for you, then set Safari to start in 32 bit mode and it goes back to normal speed (not great but better than nothing)
