- dconstrukt0
so you're paying $1 for ONE packet of ground coffee?
lol rip off.
- people pay more than that for ONE shot of coffee + hot water. I don't see how it is any more or less stupid.ephix

Well, one regular cup of burnt starbucks coffee - $2.12
One cup of Via stuff, which is actually not bad and does not in fact taste burnt = 99 cents.

they're having a taste test thing, if you can identify the brewed coffee vs instant, they'll give u a free small. all you have to do is look at it and you can tell which has passed thru a coffee machine, and which is just flat water. so there you go, go get yourself some free shit coffee.

Seen on the board at SB this morning:
"It's NOT instant coffee... it's Starbucks coffee in an instant!"
- ha. nice try though.TheBlueOne
- I know... you see this and say: "...sooo, it's instant coffee then..."prophet0NE

You have to know this is coming out of the same factory as Sanka.
I think they're missing the fact that their coffee is abominable without a ton of sugar and cream in it.

Finally tried this (I got one free with order).
It tastes like soup. Like there's a dash of celery salt in there. I've gotta say, it's pretty bad even by instant standards. The generic instant I drink camping is 100% better, and it's the cheapest instant in the coffee isle.

being in the UK starbucks is about double what you pay in the US and its not great coffee. it seems the coffee shop brands are still riding out the wave of novelty that is brits thinking they are really hip and cosmopolitan when they walk the streets with a cup of advertising space filled with weak brown caffeine sprinkled liquid.
if i had to name the best brands i'd say Costa and Nero, but they are not consistent. often its small independents that make it the best, although they mostly seem to sport illy machines.
good cups tend to come from fresh ground beans, buy a bag of decent bean from your supermarket, a hand grinder (for added experience and interaction with the process of making the drink) and let it brew in a cafetiere for a few mins, drop the filter to the bottom and your done.
i've been told that if your grind is properly fresh you'll be able to see the oil from the beans on the surface of the coffee once poured.
- so true about the AD space. People just wanna shop at the GAP with thier logo adorned cups and green straws.baseline_shift

I usually avoid starbucks like the plague but I spent a weekend at my grandfathers house a few weeks back and my only choices are drinking 20 year old Sanka or drive down to the Target and get Starbucks.
I took the taste test and liked the instant better than their regular ( not to hard to beat that crap) so I bought a big box of it and it comes out to somewhere around 99ยข a cup.
Now I'm hooked and take it to work so I don't have to drink the crap the provide for us.
I also go backpacking and camping a lot and now I don't have to carry that messy french press around, just a jet boil.
Haters be hating but this is the greatest thing since sliced bread!

Italian is the best flavor (IMO). The Columbia is not bad, but the Italian really kills it.
Totally fooler2, great for camping. Just add hot water.

if you like a little spike before you hit the gym, dump half of a VIA into a chocolate whey protein shake. delicious.
