Word is a dark place. Yet clients embrace it. They put everything in it, images, logo's, briefs, copy, websites, faxes. they are inssuferable. like the IRS.

In one of Word's many confusing palettes, with the image selected, you can click something like Original size and it will remove any resizing that had been applied to it within the document. Then, just copy and paste it into PS as suggested.

MSWord: +c
Photoshop: +n
Photoshop: +vThe new file *should* come up at the same res as the item in your clipboard. I think.

You could always try exporting the doc as a high res pdf and then extract the images from the pdf via Photoshop.

I've had this problem. I just copied and pasted it into photoshop and it pastes as vector smart object which you can then make larger. I didn't need the full res just a bit bigger so this worked fine for me. Would be itneresting to know how to get the original though.
- unless you need absolute maximum res this should do the trickset

facepalm. I feel for you Dancer. such files go straight away back to client here.
- yeah, that was my next thought. Any way to have em send the source?baseline_shift
- look at all the nice pictures on their hdd and send the right ones?jimbojones

If it was resized in word you should be able to right click on the image and format it back to 100%. Then copy paste.

Thanks Baseline but this just comes out at the size it was placed in Word
- was it placed as a higher rez image? Is it doing that weird scaling thing?baseline_shift
- It is lo res – 72DPIDancer

try right-clicking the image and doing a 'save-as'. you can make it a png or jpg, and pop it onto PotatoShop™

I have word 2008 (Mac) and I need to "extract" the hi res images from a .doc file I have been sent.
The best way so far I have found is to copy and paste into an A3 (word) document, and then copy again into PS. Anyone know how to get the original?
Thanks
