AT&T frustration part II

After almost a year of suffering with AT&T I finally got the guts to call their customer support and scream my heart out. What I learned is beyond my fucking believes. Apparently when you switch to AT&T (ala iphone) or sing up with them they automatically place you on some kind of deteriorated network where you will experience constant dropped calls, missed voice mail notifications and a shitty signal almost anywhere. However once you call them and complain they "upgrade" you. So I asked the customer support person why can't you just put me or anyone who sign up on the reliable network by default. She said it's their policy.
What kind of policy is that I had to pay $100 a month to get through the nightmares of communications and then I had to eventually get to such point of my humiliation where I had to beg them to give me the service that I had before switching to them.
For those of you on AT&T I would suggest to call them (611) and complain about your service. You most likely will get some credit ( I got $25 off my bill) and supposedly better service. I haven't experience the improvements yet, I just got of the line and I am not sure why am i posting here. Just needed to vent.

I just decided to switch to Sprint for similar reasons.

They actually downgrade you for buying an iPhone? LOL!
- shiggi70
yea, used to work for them. They suck. It's in their DNA. Please let someone else sell the iPhone here.

they all suck one way or another
- shiggi70
Some suck harder than others. Pretty sure the powers that be there are Satanists. Or maybe it's just all that cocaine.

That sounds really fucking shady, if not illegal.
You americans have loads of lawyers willing to work for a percentage, how about a class action lawsuit?

sounds like a dream. i have their internet service, signed on for a "faster" than normal version... of course i constantly got booted off the internet which led me to rage and about two straight weeks of calling them, trying EVERYTHING they suggested. finally someone told me that in reality they couldn't provide the speed they were selling so she suggested i go down a notch.... um yeah.

I had a great weekend... afterwards, they sent me this survey, here is one of my answers.
"My phone was stolen from me in Oakland this past Saturday. I was walking down the street and was held up at gun point. I was commanded to empty my pockets which included my iPhone. On Sunday, my only option to get a new phone was to sign up for two more years AND pay $399 ($455.91 after taxes and fees) for a phone worth $199! It is absolutely absurd, I am already committing to two more years to pay you over $2500 and on top of it, you feel its necessary to charge me as if I was upgrading because I wanted a new phone. Fuck you At&t, I was robbed twice this weekend. I can not wait for the day that the iPhone is available with other carriers."

I'm sorry to tell you, but you got it all wrong. There is no "better" or "worse" signal on ATT, their network is fucked, and for what I understand, same goes to tmobile.
Verizon is a different network, so unless you use them, I doubt you are going to see a difference in it. I've been w att for at least 6 years now, and with my piece of crap phone I had way better reception than w the iphone, (previous phone was on g2, not g3)
There is something you can do, callt them up (611) you are going to hear 3 options, one of them is to cancel your account. They won't let you do it, and they will keep offering shit to you, someone I know, got their bill reduced to $65 (normally $100 w an iphone) data plan, text message and everything included.
You will get a small feeling of winning, although they keep owning your ass, you just pay a bit less. For better reception there is always skype right?
- You are right, they just shoved $25 down my throat, pretended to "upgrade" me- and told me to fuck off..zaq

why not just hack the phone to tmobile?
i use tmobil for my bberry and their network is rock solid....
- rusty_ace0
well where i'm at you don't really have many options, I used to have alltel and they were ok but since Verizon took them over the service is complete crap, and her black berry is constantly getting the our glass that never stops spinning. At&t where im at is usually pretty except for the call failed errors which i get a couple times a week, but the 3g seems to be pretty solid. And Sprint and T-mobile are not viable options...very limiting service.
