I'm looking for a basic mouse. I'm on a Mac desktop but I don't want a Mighty Mouse since everyone I've used stop scrolling up.

I had a cheap Microsoft mouse I liked, but it finally died. I DO NOT want a wireless mouse because I don't want to buy batteries every two weeks.

I know this sounds like a simple thing to search for, but I've had no luck. Thanks in advance.

I don't mind the Mighty Mouse. If you spend 15 seconds to clean the scroll ball it will work again.

MM is pretty much one of the worst mice ever made. MS makes the best mice out there.

    • I agree, the mac mouse is shit to say the leastKiko1/2
Yeah it blows. The design sucks, thw quality sucks.CygnusZero42/2

I use all wireless mice, both at work and at home, upwards of 8 to 12 hours a day. Two weeks is not even close. I change my batteries about once every month and a half to two months. I bought a Duracell wall charger with four rechargeable batteries for about $30.

I only use/recommend Micro$oft mice––the only thing they are excellent at creating, IMO.

I'd recommend Logitech over M$. They have the most accurate feel, even if they might break every 6 months or so.

Logitech do ok hardware, but they fill your machine up with really crappy software... on the PC at least.

My rec, again, would be Razer, if you can ignore the l33t gamer aesthetic.

    • There's no need to install anything actually...just plug in the mouseukit1/2

Re: Wired Vs Wireless. I am yet to find a wireless mouse that doesn't have, even a minuscule, delay. I think you get used to it and then don't notice but still an issue for me.

    • Totally disagree...wired feels clunky to meukit1/3

If you've ever in any way been into FPS games you'll appreciate the difference between wired and wireless mice - but that's only the extreme test. I recall a few times my Logitech MX1000 stuttered for no good reason - and then there's having to have a dock to hand and needing to charge the sodding thing every once in a while. Too much hassle and too much desktop detritus for my liking.

In my opinion Mighty mouse is the worst piece of hardware Apple ever produced ( that I used). In fact I am using it at the moment and it makes me want to learn all the shortcuts that exist.

I have logitech's MX revolution. I like that one a lot

    • you're forgetting the rounded mouse shipped with the G3 and 1st gen iMacsAutokern1/3
Agree, Logitech Revolution is probably the best,ukit2/3
Oh, yeah those round mice made a fortune for the 3rd party mouse grip extendersCyBrain3/3

Thanks to everyone. I went with this since it's an updated version of what I had and liked.

Apple might be releasing a new mouse shortly - about fucking time I would say..

"Mac4Ever's sources have also reported a number of other tidbits about Apple's product pipeline for the next few months, including a new 100% touch-enabled mouse capable of advanced mouse functions, as well as a new aluminum Apple Remote."
