So since I started viewing QBN, I have seen this as a place to learn. With that said, I have some things that I don't understand 100% and I thought I would see if anyone could fill in my blanks.
Software that I don't know what it does:
1.) Adobe Fireworks-
2.) Adobe Drive CS4-I know that these are kind of NEWB questions but I figure where else could I go to ask such things?

I got a short e-mail from a reader that asked a simple question, "what is Adobe Drive CS4?" My guess is that she saw it on the install list for Photoshop CS4 Extended and wasn't too sure what to do with it.
In a general sense, Adobe Drive helps you to connect to Version Cue servers. Version Cue helps larger workgroups manage working on files, sharing assets, and much more. With Adobe Drive, the mounted drive looks and acts like any other mounted hard drive.
I don't know of too many law enforcement agencies that use Version Cue. Most people doing forensic analysis of images and video are working on stand-alone systems. For this type of user, Version Cue really doesn't have a part to play. For large labs or photography departments, Version Cue can be a life saver. Adobe Drive just makes it easier to work with Version Cue servers.
- Hmm, now I'm *really*curious to know more about you - not in a luvvie way, just what you're all about :)detritus

Adobe Fireworks (formerly Macromedia Fireworks), known as Fw for short, is a bitmap and vector graphics editor. It was originally developed by Macromedia, which Adobe acquired in 2005, and aimed at web designers (with features such as: slices, the ability to add hotspots etc.). It is designed to integrate easily with other former Macromedia products, such as Macromedia Dreamweaver and Macromedia Flash. It is available as a standalone product or bundled with CS4. Previous versions were bundled with Macromedia Studio.

Fireworks used to be one of Photoshop's competitors (kinda). It's all a matter of preference, but people generally use it for web based graphics. Open it up, try it out.

I don't understand how Adobe CEO can ignore the fact that the cost to port FreeHand to universal binary would be tiny and they would get a shitload of money for the work done by Macromedia years ago.
- I just want live path preview in Illustrator. But you're right.ismith

http://www.freefreeh…typist - nice, they should get rid of the aged graphics though. funny, I associate that style with older AI versionsjimbojones
- more than just a port.. marketing, training, support, etc.. huge costs bringing a product to market.acescence
- also, a port is not that trivial a taskacescence
- a port is not a rewrite; they would advertise it as another member of CS, no big deal; I'm not an Adobe CEO, what do I knowjimbojones
- Same goes for a Mac Audition... Cool Edit Pro / Adobe Audition are BOSS. Im blown away at the laggy slow & bloated recording software there is on a mac.neferiu

I don't get Fireworks. I'm so used to Photoshop that I don't really see the point...doesn't feel so intuitive to me. I have an IA that always sends me Fireworks pngs. with "pages" and it throws me all the time.
